Estimator

Print has bounced back and it looks like it has no signs of slowing down. This is great to see, hear and be part of. This is your opportunity to join a new business putting your estimating skills and knowledge to good use. 

This business is STACKED! So much so, that they need assistance in most departments but one huge area where they can see growth is in the estimating department. They have such a good name in their market, that they can't get quotes out quick enough, and it's taking people away from other areas of their jobs. Sales, production and client services are all getting involved. Testament to their culture, people are pulling together and getting the job done but that's not sustainable. 

In you ride on your horse and save the day. 

There are two positions available. If we can get two with extensive print estimating experience then great but if you're also open to a new role and challenge then that could work well too as a lot of the success in this business is all about you, the culture fit, your attitude and behaviour. Yes, experience does help but can be forgiven if you're the right type of person. 

So who is the right type of person? 

Well, from my experience of meeting the team.  You'll be someone that loves to be involved. Not a busy body but someone that will take on responsibility and will be accountable for your actions, and for the success of anything you do and have the desire to continue to learn and thrive in a very busy environment. 

The team is well established, and has good chemistry and longevity. It's the type of place where everyone gets on, there's a lot of autonomy but enough guidance and support to ensure that you and your career are developing how you want to too. Take your direct manager for example. They're into their 16th year, they started on the shop floor and moved across the majority of departments and now sitting as Sales Manager with a view to developing further into the Commercial Director. Watch this space. 

So, the day-to-day will involve lots of string pulling. You'll sit centrally to the sales team, the production, the client services team and also the external client. The work is great, it's a huge variety or all things visual graphics. Window Displays, Retail Graphics, Large Format, Wide Format, Event & Exhibition, Sports Graphics. If you can see it and it can be printed, these people can do it. 

You come in with a knowledge of estimating within the world of print or signage will have massive benefits for everyone, you'll hit the ground running and have an immediate impact. If you don't have it, don't worry, we'd still love to hear from you. 

The role is way more than guessing how much something will cost to produce. It's creative, it's technical, and it's commercial but operational at the same time. Yes, you'll be a whizz on excel and numerically strong but we need you to have a solid all-rounder type mentality too. Taking ownership of the estimating process is essential. You can gather market knowledge by following up on quotes and work as to why it wasn't won at the time, you will have the finger on the pulse of the supply chain and report back to the team on what's going on. Way more than spitting out rough estimates on the back of a fag packet. 

This is a busy manufacturing department. More often than not you'll be in the office. You need to be in and amongst the business, so if you need a hybrid working and don't have the flexibility to work in an office environment then this won't be for you. Chained to your desk, absolutely not, but in the thick of this busy environment, absolutely.
