Vacancy Detail

Sales Director

This is a very, very unique opportunity. One where you have full responsibility to build out a sales function for this global manufacturing business.

You'll be joining a family business. One with strong morals, ethics and a business that is very well respected within their niche area of packaging manufacturing. Whilst it is a family-owned and managed business, they are not the tricky type to work for, they want to evolve, change and be driven forward.

So, you'll be inheriting a pretty extensive client base, a multi-million-pound client base. One that has been with the business for many years. One of the first actions will be to review where and what is being done now, split off the accounts and get out to see them. Nurture the relationships, build on the foundations and ultimately drive growth within an already captive audience. On top of this, you'll be expected to have a pretty strong track record in delivering new business and be comfortable with both hunting and farming.

This role does require client meetings both domestic and internationally. So a willingness (or acceptance) that you will be travelling then that is also needed.

The business is in a pivotal moment. Performing fantastically well, moved into a shiny, purpose-built facility, opened a very successful site in Florida and plans to open another in the US sometime in the future. They've hired and are hiring in some key areas of the business, investing in new technology, ERP and new locations.

For this role specifically has come about due to significant growth plans and so leaving almost a blank canvas (although steep in history) for you to come in, get hands-on and build a team around you. Not many opportunities like that around.

This is not something that would suit somebody that has sold high volume, quick turnaround sales. This is way more considered, it's project related, and it'll take time to carve out a substantial flow of revenue. You need to be thorough, patient and able to trust the process. If you are an out and out closer on the first pitch, you'll get frustrated. If you're someone that has a strong commercial background working on high-ticket, project-related sales processes then this could be the one, that ticks the boxes for you.

You'll be coming into this role with a clear background in leading a high-performing sales function. You could be a Sales Manager that feels they have nowhere else to move in your current business or a Commercial Manager that fancies a bit of a hands-on project.

One thing that is huge for this business is a cultural fit. You'll be joining a business that is on the upwards curve, with positivity, a can-do environment and one that wants to really push on. So if you've got an abundance of optimism, you're modest and want an opportunity where you can develop then you'll fit right in.

We are totally open on the sector for this, you don't need to have a track record in packaging for example but an appreciation of manufacturing/engineering type set-up would be beneficial to you. Given this is what they do. What is important is that cultural fit, your acceptance to a slower build sales process and also your ability to illustrate you can perform and consistently hit/smash your sales figures.

Here we are, there's an opening for you to come and create something impressive for this well-established business that wants to be taken to the next level from the fantastic foundations they are built upon. You'll be comfortable leading by example and being hands-on in the early days with a view to building out the sales function in the next 12 months. You'll report directly to the MD.

If this sounds like you, give us a shout, nudge, or call. However you want to get in touch, we are here waiting and ready to answer all your questions.
