Vacancy Detail

Production Leader

About you

You already know your way around a busy large format production environment and you’re comfortable getting stuck in.

You’re probably the person people already come to when a job needs sorting, the printer is playing up or production needs organising properly.

This isn’t a role where you’ll be sat behind a desk managing from a distance. Initially, they need somebody who is happy being hands-on with the team, running kit when needed and making sure work gets through production properly.

Longer term, there’s a genuine opportunity to take more ownership and grow into the management side of the production department.

Your experience

You’ll need a proper background within large format print, signage, graphics or display production. They need somebody who can come in and understand the environment from day one.

Experience across roll-to-roll and flatbed printing is important, alongside cutting and finishing equipment and a good understanding of the different materials that come through a large format department.

They currently run Liyu equipment, so experience with Liyu printers would be ideal. It isn’t a dealbreaker though — if you’re already strong on similar large format kit, they can train you on the machines.

More than anything, you’ll need to understand how a production floor actually works. Priorities change, deadlines move and sometimes you’ve got to jump on a machine yourself to get something out of the door.

What you’ll be doing

Initially, you’ll be heavily involved in the day-to-day production work.

You’ll help organise workflow, keep jobs moving through the department, make sure quality stays where it should be and get involved on the printers and finishing equipment whenever the team needs another pair of hands.

As you settle in, they want you taking more ownership of production rather than simply operating within it.

That could mean helping plan workloads, keeping an eye on deadlines, sorting issues before they become bigger problems and becoming the person who really knows what is going on across the production floor.

The longer-term plan is for the role to develop into more of a Production Manager position.

About the business

You’ll be joining an established print and graphics business working across large format print, signage, displays, POS and branded environments.

There’s a decent variety of work going through production, so you won’t be stood producing the same thing every day.

They’re looking for somebody who wants a bit more responsibility and can grow with the production side of the business, rather than simply moving from one operator job into another.

Next steps

If you’re already working in large format or signage production and feel like you’re ready to take a bit more ownership, give us a shout.

You don’t need to already have Production Manager on your CV. If you know production properly, are confident on the kit and naturally take the lead around the shop floor, it’s worth a conversation.
